Pictures and short videos
Make an illustration, edit a photo, turn a lesson into a video overview — and label what is made by AI.
One illustration for a lesson or notice, one edited photo, and a short video overview — each labelled honestly.
Lesson 7 of 12 · Part 2: Make things
Pictures and short videos
Gemini can draw a picture from a description and edit a photo you give it — change the background, add a label, restyle it as a drawing — and it can write text in the image in many languages. Short video clips can be made in Gemini too, with daily limits that depend on your plan. For teaching, the most useful video tool is quieter: Gemini Notebook’s video overview, which narrates your own material over slides.
The idea
Describe the picture, not the art style
What is in it, where, from what angle, what it is for. “A clear diagram-style drawing of the water cycle over the Pir Panjal mountains, labelled in English, white background, for a Class 6 worksheet.”
Edit by talking
Upload a photo and say what to change: “remove the clutter behind the table”, “make the label larger”. Keep the original.
AI pictures carry a mark
Google adds an invisible watermark (SynthID) and often a visible one to images it makes. Do not remove it — and say in your own words that the picture was made with AI.
Step by step
- 1
Make an illustration
In Gemini, describe a picture you need for a worksheet, a notice or a slide. Ask for changes until it is right.
- 2
Edit a photo
Upload a photo of a classroom display or a product, and ask for one change. Compare with the original.
- 3
Translate a picture
Point Google Lens at a sign or a page in Urdu, Hindi or English to translate it or copy the text out.
- 4
Make a video overview
In the notebook from Lesson 5, open Studio and make a video overview. Watch it all before you share it.
- 5
Label your work
Under each picture you use: “Illustration made with AI.” It costs nothing and builds trust.
Prompts to copy
Change the parts in [brackets], and the details to fit your own day.
Teacher
Draw a simple, clear illustration of a food chain in a Kashmir forest: grass, a deer, a leopard. Arrows from food to eater. White background, labels in English, suitable for printing in black and white.
Shop
Here is a photo of my product. Put it on a plain white background, keep the colours exactly true, and do not change the product itself.
Anyone
Make a poster for a school tree-planting day on Saturday 14 March at 10am. Chinar leaves, warm autumn colours, the text large and in English and Urdu.
Try it
Your task
Make one illustration you will really use, edit one photo, and make one video overview from your notebook — and label all three.
When you are done: You can make pictures and video for your work, and you have the habit of saying so.
Check yourself
Think of your answer first, then open it. Nothing is marked or saved.
Should you make a realistic picture of a real person — a colleague, a politician, a student?Show answer
No. Realistic images of real people are how fakes and harassment start, and with children it is never acceptable.
A product photo edited by AI makes the product look better than it is. Is that fine?Show answer
No. Clean the background if you like, but a customer must get what the picture shows.
Keep the trust
Never make a picture of a real person, and label what AI made.
An image that looks real is believed. Keep that power for drawings, diagrams and products — never people — and say when AI made it.
