AI tools, step by step
Learn to use AI tools by making real things.
Twelve short lessons for teachers, parents and anyone around the school, one step at a time. Each ends with something you made for your own work — a worksheet, a sourced brief, a slide deck, a small app — and the one habit that keeps it safe. Then see it in your own job. Start anywhere: every lesson is open.
Make, don’t watch
Every lesson ends with a thing you made for your own work, not a quiz score. About 4.5 hours in all.
Any assistant
Shown in Gemini, which is on every Android phone. Every prompt works in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot too.
Keep the trust
Each lesson has one habit — what never to paste, what to check, when to say you used AI.
Part 1
Start well
What these tools are, and how to ask them for anything.
- 01 15 min
What these tools are — and are not
A chatbot predicts likely words. That one fact explains what it is good at and where it goes wrong.

Asking well: the five-part ask
Most bad answers come from short questions. Five parts turn a vague request into a useful one.

Talk back: three turns to a good answer
The first answer is a draft. Push back, narrow it, ask again — and use your voice.

Part 2
Make things
Research, your own documents, slides, pictures and spreadsheets.
- 04 25 min
Research you can check
Search with sources, Deep Research for a long report — and how to tell a real source from a made-up one.
Gemini · Perplexity · ChatGPT
- 05 25 min
Your own documents: Gemini Notebook
Upload the chapter, the circular, the manual — and get answers only from them, with the line each came from.
Gemini Notebook
- 06 25 min
Slides, documents and diagrams
From notes to a presentation in minutes — then make it yours.

- 07 25 min
Pictures and short videos
Make an illustration, edit a photo, turn a lesson into a video overview — and label what is made by AI.

Numbers and lists: spreadsheets with AI
Formulas explained, messy lists cleaned, a chart from a table — without memorising anything.
Gemini · Google Sheets · ChatGPT
Part 3
Go further
Helpers that remember your instructions, small apps, and AI with no internet.
- 09 20 min
Your own helper: instructions it remembers
Save your best prompt as a helper — a Gem in Gemini — and let it run routine tasks on a schedule.

- 10 25 min
Build a small app without code
A quiz, a flashcard game, a fee calculator — described in words, built by Canvas, shared by a link.

Private and offline: AI on your phone
Gemma runs on the phone itself, with no internet — the answer when the signal drops or the data is confidential.

Part 4
Keep the trust
Fakes, scams, honesty about using AI — and your own AI kit.
In your job
AI tools in your working day
The same tools, in the hands of people who do the job: someone in that profession showing how they use it, three things to try this week, and the one habit that keeps it safe. Step by step, like the lessons.
Doctors
Less time on notes and letters, more with the patient — and never a diagnosis you have not made yourself.
Open
Lawyers
Faster first drafts and summaries — and a check on every citation, because courts now treat a fake one as misconduct.
Open
Teachers
Lesson plans, worksheets and feedback in less time — and a clear line for students on when AI is allowed.
Open
Apple growers
A photo check of a sick leaf, your spray schedule explained in Urdu, and the sums before you sell — with the extension officer still the last word.
Open
Shopkeepers
The story of a craft in good English, quick replies on WhatsApp, a polite answer to a review — for shops, crafts, houseboats and hotels.
Open
Tools named here are examples, not recommendations, and nothing on these pages is advice about a particular patient, case, orchard or shop.
Before you start
Three rules that run through every lesson
- 01No one’s private details go in — not a child’s name, marks or photo.
- 02Check what it says before you pass it on. It is fluent, not always right.
- 03Say when you used AI. Use it, check it, say so.
On Jio? Google AI Pro is included for 18 months with an Unlimited 5G plan of ₹349 or more (age 18 and over), claimed from the banner in the MyJio app. It raises Gemini Notebook’s limits and adds Deep Research. Keep the plan active, or the benefit ends.
